So the week contains more than I initially thought and here is our last few days in Perth wrapped up (again)
When we came down from Coral bay we passed the Pinnacles. We talked briefly about stopping to see them but we where tired from the long drive, had just 200 km left to drive and wanted to get home. So we blasted past them and skipped ’em.
But the Pinnacles are a strange sight and after a short debate we decided to drive back up on Thursday and take a look. It’s just up the road with 200 km each way, so hey! A quick country ride.
We saddled up after breakfast with a new audio book for the tour (Book two in the Policeman series we listened to at the long drive) and headed down the road. We arrived a couple of hours later and was just blown away. The pinnacles are “stones” that seems to just grow out up of the desert. There is no 100% knowledge to what they are, or how they came to be.

There are two main theories, one that claims these are old trees now covered in limestone-buil and I can’t remember the other theory. I have no own theory in this, but it was really cool to be here. The park is well organized and there is a route that you can drive through the pinnacles. I would recommend that as the flies looked to be the evil brothers of the one down in Perth. We saw a lot of creative ways of keeping the flies from people’s faces during the day. Just writing this makes my skin crawl.

- these
- damned
- flies!
You can do a walk through the area, and it’s all marked and easy to follow, but getting out of the car during the drive was enough for us.
We sat a course for home and made dinner before we headed out to AMAF for our last training in the club. We have been lucky to get to train there and the people have been very welcoming. I just love being part of an international league of gentlemen. Wherever we go we meet so many great people and are welcomed into groups, trainings, homes and social events. Thank you guys.
Friday started with Katja doing yoga while I just hang around and write these words. There will be two yoga sessions today and I will join in on the second one.
After the morning yoga which Katja described as “housewives yoga” we sat a course to Foam for coffee and then moved on towards Power Living for a more hard core Vinyasa Flow yoga. And surprise! In the door comes fireman Phil. We had emailed and informed of our plans and heard if he had opportunity to do the class, but had not seen the answer before we left home. It was a nice surprise and we all did a good session on the mat.
Afterwards the three of us went don to Oxford street and for lunch at Jus Burger. It was a good meal, but we still managed to move over to Greens for coffee and cake. We spent another hour there talking about training, books and then Surprise! Again! Phil gave Katja a present, the official Fireman calendar for 2015. Yes indeed. Hot hunks with bare chests in fireman outfits in front of flames. I think she slept with it on the plane to the Philippines.
As we had planned the day ahead and put enough time on every task we headed home to make dinner in the house. But behold; who forget her yoga mat at the yoga studio? On the other side of town? Damn! We spent almost an hour going to and from the studio to pick up the mat and thereby did not get enough time to make dinner for Mike and Damien. Luckily Damien stepped up and BBQ’ed for all of us and we ate and left for the airport. But we did get to leave a card to the guys and a (very) small token of appreciation to each of them. Jack included. He opens his own presents and went completely bananas over the squeaky toy we had bought him. Mike and Damien maybe not so happy with the squeaky part. THANK YOU GUYS SO SO MUCH FOR HAVING US AROUND FOR SUCH A LONG TIME.
To the airport we went and onto the plane we stepped. Farewell Australia, and thanks for all the memories.
