It’s Wednesday and Katja starts with anatomy today. And it’s a day for remembering the tragedy of July 22nd.
It’s four years ago that the maniac set of a bomb in Oslo and then drive off to mass murder youths at an island outside if town. I clearly remember that evening as we were heading home from summer camp in Germany. Sitting on Schiphol airport in Amsterdam we got news and feverishly tried to piece together what was happening back home. A plane ride later we sat in the back seat if a taxi reading the news and getting just a fraction of the horror this crazy man inflicted on others. There’s a lot written about it in Norwegian newspapers today. Let’s keep the memory of this, and why it happened alive, so it won’t happen again. My thoughts go out to anyone touched by this atrocity.
Life in Ubud continues and I go to the post office to retrieve a package Katja got from Amazon. Looks like their just as eagerly claim custom fees here as back home.
I drive around and visit several shops looking for a new pocket Wi-Fi and a new cover to my iPad. No luck on either account.
After lunch I watch a new video from Ignite while waiting for Katja to come back.
We have a lovely dinner with steak at the Italian place across the street. The guy running it is now a pal and greets us like all old friends when we arrive. Katja even went overboard and got a glass of red wine. Where will it end?
“The only advice I can give to aspiring writers is don’t do it unless you’re willing to give your whole life to it. Red wine and garlic also helps.”
