We stayed up too late last night. Nothing happened but we didn’t seem to be able to turn of the light.
So this morning we slept in. Well, I did. Katja has this thing about getting up in the morning. Not overly early today, but still a good hour before me.
We spend the morning planning and reading up on Malaysia. Were pulling out from Cameron highlands and keeping to the cities for a while. We tried to get extend our stay here at the hotel, but it’s full. Damn.
We go out to have lunch and walk down to the main shopping street where we know of a little vegetarian place. My little pizza was just that. Little. To little. We go and book us in a pedicure to get rid of all the dead and dry skin under our feet.
- Little Veggie Pizza
- Veggie Curry
First we get me a little more to eat and find a great burger joint that is based on “make your own”. It’s very good and I think we’ll come back here a day we can relax a little and not run through.

- Mine!

At the spa we get a good foot rub, but then Katja gets blindsided. She’s asked if we want something more and she answers yes. After the original treatment they use a paint brush and cover our feet in goo, shrink wrap them in plastic and put on a sock. Short of ten minutes later they unwrap and wash. At that counter they wanted the equivalent of eight hundred NOK per person for the last ten minutes. Ridiculous. Katja went ballistic and paid a fraction of the price while literally fuming of anger. Then we just walked. They couldn’t enough English between them to say much, but two of them came and gave us back a quarter of the money. Go figure. Sometimes angry lady has to be let out. Luckily not so often, and never ever towards me. I hope.
We had already tickets to the movie “Spy”. See it. It was hilarious. I laughed out loud several times. Finally a funny spy movie with 18 year age limit. At least here. That made for decent raw humour.
On the way back towards our hotel we thought to catch dinner. Then a get flagged down by a Norwegian couple looking for a street in this area. They just arrived and with a local SIM card and figure maps we’re ready to help. It’s not far off our route so we walk with then and get them safely into the street. It’s nice to do good deeds, and it usually costs little but time. You should try it sometime soon if you don’t know the feeling of which I speak.
We thought maybe there was rendang to be found here. You might remember the spicy dish we love so much on Bali? We walked into a restaurant that looked similar with the food on display, but the lady said they only had rendang in the morning. Huh. Ok.
- Walking the streets of KL
- KL Tower in the distance
- Damned good local food
- Almost rendang
- KL Tower, from our hotel, changed into red
She did have other good stuff and we got each a portion and a water for less cost than one dish a few streets over. Gotta love this street food stuff. Good and cheap.
We finally caught up with the blog again also, as we posted the last few day’s posts. Then we relaxed and just enjoyed the fact that we have a sofa and don’t have to lay on the bed when we’re in the room.
“People think, ‘Oh, I’m loving myself by sitting on this sofa for four hours.’ Love yourself enough to get up!”
